Loverboy and Foreigner rocked!!
Impressive... The lead singers voice just didnt fit his physical appearance. The winner of the Dougfest battle of the bands was a solid, solid cover band. I expected a Steve Perry/Vince Neill type with a very wide range, but instead heard a James Hetfield type.
Loverboy was it's usual, fun filled classic hits affair. They sounded solid and the range of Mike Reno was very consistant with a performance in 1986. None of their new music from the just getting started album.
If you closed your eyes you would have thought you were in 1987 and Lou Gramm was behind the mic. excellent performance!!!!! HMS Pinafore lineup of non origanal members (except for Mick Jones) matched any performance in their history.
An Unforgettable Event!
I gave my son a gift for his 15th birthday that I'm certain he will one day share with his own children. He told me not to expect Free Bird to be sung, but just an instrumental, and they did! My husband, who played guitar, loved HMS Pinafore nearly as much as I did. We had an unforgettable time at the HMS Pinafore concert, dancing and singing with pure joy. I experienced the feeling of being free, and wanted my son to feel the same. We had a blast at the HMS Pinafore concert, a truly awesome and unforgettable performance. My husband's spirit was present as we both sang Simple Man with tears in our eyes. We saw them back in '93ish in Chattanooga, Tn, with the man I spent 20 wonderful years with before he passed away 8 years ago. My son was in awe and giggled about the "older guy" jamming so awesomely for what felt like 4-5 minutes on our way out. This concert marked a perfect end to my concert days and a fantastic start for my son. Priceless! I couldn't have asked for a better birthday present.
